In Madre de Dios, Peru, Indigenous communities are responding to illegal mining and logging through voluntary patrol initiatives. Supported by Aktion Amazonas, Conservación Amazónica (ACCA), and Indigenous organizations, local community members carry out patrol activities to monitor forests and rivers, document illegal operations, and protect their territories. The article focuses on patrol work in the community of Palma Real.

Aktion Amazonas hosted the event “Safety for Environmental Defenders” to present a new manual developed with NGOs and local partners in Peru and Bolivia. The project offers practical tools, risk-mitigation strategies, and recommendations to support those protecting the Amazon and other environmental conflict zones. The event brought together experts to turn research into concrete action.

Aktion Amazonas’ youth engagement project in Bolivia empowered young people to protect nature and strengthen environmental education. Through workshops, advocacy, and community activities, participants learned to conserve forests, raise awareness, and make a lasting impact on local communities and biodiversity.
