PROTECTION ACTION

Safeguarding ecosystems and territories against immediate threats

Across the Amazon, forests are under acute pressure from extractive industries, land conversion, and uncontrolled fires, while poaching and wildlife trafficking erode biodiversity and destabilise entire ecosystems. As these pressures intensify, water sources dry up, wildlife declines, traditional knowledge disappears, and forests lose their vital ability to regulate the climate.

At Aktion Amazonas, we work with Indigenous Peoples and frontline communities to confront the most immediate threats through targeted interventions that safeguard both people and nature.

We strengthen community brigades to prevent and control wildfires through risk mapping, early warning systems, continuous monitoring, and the creation of firebreaks and water reservoirs

We support community patrols equipped with drones, GPS, and satellite tools to detect illegal activities, document evidence, and advance legal action.

We enable community vigilance and anti-poaching patrols that prevent wildlife trafficking and protect key species such as jaguars, giant otters, macaws, and medicinal plants.
