On Patrol: Voluntary local action against illegal activities
In Madre de Dios, Peru, Indigenous communities are responding to illegal mining and logging through voluntary patrol initiatives. Supported by Aktion Amazonas, Conservación Amazónica (ACCA), and Indigenous organizations, local community members carry out patrol activities to monitor forests and rivers, document illegal operations, and protect their territories. The article focuses on patrol work in the community of Palma Real.
