On Patrol: Voluntary local action against illegal activities
In Madre de Dios, Peru, Indigenous communities are responding to illegal mining and logging through voluntary patrol initiatives. Supported by Aktion Amazonas, Conservación Amazónica (ACCA), and Indigenous organizations, local community members carry out patrol activities to monitor forests and rivers, document illegal operations, and protect their territories. In June, Aktion Amazonas joins the Together4Forests campaign to support the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). This law aims to stop products linked to deforestation and human rights abuses from entering the EU market. Despite strong support, the EUDR faces opposition and delays.
