From the Amazon to Europe, the struggle to protect forests is deeply connected. Decisions made in global markets, boardrooms, and parliaments shape the realities faced by Indigenous and rural communities on the forest frontier. Across the region, civic space is shrinking, environmental defenders face increasing risks, and powerful economic interests continue to drive deforestation.
At Aktion Amazonas, we empower people to stand up for the Amazon by addressing the structural drivers of deforestation and environmental degradation, ensuring that pressures on forests do not reproduce themselves. This structural work aims to shift policies, narratives, and power relations.
We strengthen community leadership through training, dialogue, and by connecting local priorities to regional and global platforms. In Denmark and the EU, we mobilize support for stronger environmental laws and improved import regulations.
We promote youth leadership, environmental education, community learning hubs, and campaigns that inspire people to value and protect forests - promoting fair and responsible supply chains.
We generate accessible data through on-the-ground and real-time monitoring to strengthen accountability, support legal action, and inform decisions at all levels.
