During the fall break, Isabella Nyborg and Linn Nordlund, aged 13 and 21 respectively, are going to Bolivia for the rainforest NGO Aktion Amazonas.
The two young 'ambassadors' are both dedicated to the fight for nature and want to do more for the rainforest:
"I have always been fascinated by the Amazon and the indigenous people, so I am looking forward to traveling to the rainforest in Bolivia with Aktion Amazonas. I would like to help preserve nature and learn how to protect rare species. I also hope to better understand how the rainforest fights climate change," explains Isabella, who is in 7th grade at Korsvejens Skole in Tårnby.
"I want to help preserve nature and make a difference for the environment. It is a unique opportunity to experience the rainforest up close and see how to protect it. I expect to learn about how the rainforest works and how the locals work to protect it," explains Linn Nordlund, a student from Christianshavns Gymnasium.

The two young women are the first team of young 'Amazon Ambassadors' to be sent to Bolivia. This is in connection with a new initiative that aims to strengthen young people's engagement in the climate and nature fight. The organization's program manager, Nazaret Fernandez, explains:
"Our new 'Amazon Ambassadors' will reach new target groups and help focus attention on the major climate challenges we face, and the crucial role the rainforest plays in solving the global climate and biodiversity crisis. Isabella and Linn have been chosen based on their interest and commitment."
Together with school students and political youth groups that Aktion Amazonas supports in the fight for the preservation of the rainforest, the two new 'Amazon Ambassadors' will learn more about nature conservation and meet with some of the environmental organizations that fight daily to protect the rainforest.
They will also meet with people from indigenous village communities who live on the front lines of deforestation and whose lives are directly affected when rivers are polluted and animals disappear.
The young 'ambassadors' will share their experience via social media along the way. When they return home, they will help engage friends, family and classmates in the climate fight and the protection of the Amazon rainforest.
Aktion Amazonas is a rainforest NGO that, through local partnerships, supports indigenous people in the fight for the rainforest in Peru and Bolivia.
