Despite its Amazon setting and stated goals, the summit failed to secure a pathway to halt deforestation or deliver the finance needed for nature-based solutions. The article highlights the vital role of tropical forests, the rise of wildfire as a major threat, the leadership of Indigenous Peoples, and the ongoing political fight to protect forests.
